Virginia Couples Intensives
Private weekend marriage counseling in Northern Virginia
When the stakes are high,
it matters who you work with.
If you’re unhappy in your relationship and you don’t want to wait months or years to see progress, there’s another way.
Two seasoned clinicians, one private weekend, accelerated results
You’ve talked about it, fought about it, avoided it, and tried to fix it.
Now it’s time for a different level of support.
Why a Couples Intensive?
Different than weekly therapy
More time. Accelerated results.
Traditional couples therapy happens one hour at a time in between parenting, work, and daily life. It can feel rushed. Sometimes you finally get to something important just as the session is ending, and you leave without feeling like much was resolved. A weekend gives us more time to stay with the hard stuff, see your issues unfold in front of us, and support you in real time as you begin to respond to each other differently.
Two therapists. One couple.
More expertise. More support.
You’ll work directly with Mary McLaughlin, LCSW and Amy Weidinger, LPC, the founders of Virginia Couples Intensives, from start to finish. We understand the courage it takes to work on your marriage. Facing the hurt, resentment, and uncertainty is not easy. We’ll be there with you through the hard conversations, the repair work, and the transformative moments when things start to feel better.
A tailored experience
Depth makes a difference.
You won’t arrive to a one-size-fits-all experience. Before your weekend begins, we dedicate hours of time to really understanding where you’re getting stuck, what behaviors aren’t working, and what changes you each hope to see. We draw from four different couples therapy models and decades of experience to tailor the weekend to what your relationship needs the most.
When the future of a marriage and family is on the line, experience, expertise, and the right approach matter.
