About Couples Intensives

Our intensive therapy is focused on one couple for two days and led by two highly respected couples therapists, Mary McLaughlin and Amy Weidinger. We are marriage repair experts and specialize in helping couples work through resentment, broken trust, and disconnection.

Throughout the immersive experience, you will engage in personalized sessions, targeted exercises, and expert guidance to overcome challenges and rediscover the beauty of your partnership.

Sample Schedule

DAY ONE 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Welcome and initial couples therapy session

  • Define goals, expectations, and hopes for the relationship

  • Individual sessions with each partner/ develop personal agendas for change

  • Review assessments and clearly identify target areas for change

    One hour lunch break

  • Identify each partner’s attachment style and how that shows up in the relationship

  • Clearly understand perpetual problems

  • Observation of couple interaction

  • Map out relationship patterns and behaviors that are getting in the way of connection

  • Reflect on and summarize day one, and depart.

** After couple departs, Mary and Amy will meet to review, collaborate, and develop a customized treatment plan in preparation for day 2.

DAY TWO 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Begin the day with a guided exercise designed to promote connection

  • Introduce the treatment plan

  • Begin learning and using tools and strategies specifically chosen for each couple based on individualized needs

  • Identify past wounds that continue to surface and begin the repair process

  • Practice emotional regulation skills

One hour lunch break (Couple leaves for lunch while Amy and Mary review progress and finalize the afternoon agenda based on couple’s needs)

  • Interactive activity to identify core values

  • Discuss rituals of connection and creating shared meaning in the relationship

  • Complete emotional connection scale

  • Develop an exit plan to maintain progress made during the intensive
